Hamilton transit will be making it easier to ride the bus with a bike.

Starting tomorrow, the HSR will begin a new Bike 'n' Bus program that will outfit eight buses with bike racks on the front bumper.

Each rack can hold two bikes on a first-come, first-served basis.

Initially, the new racks will be in circulation on the articulated buses on the 1-King route on Saturdays and Sundays and on the 10-Beeline Express on weekdays. The 99-Waterfront Shuttle will also have the new bike racks.

Not every bus on these routes will have the new racks at first, the HSR says.

The program will be phased in during the next several weeks.

The HSR said it anticipates that most buses will have the racks by late fall.
